文とさやか
和真がEDだと知ったさやかは呆気に取られた後、お腹を抱えて笑い出した。
勃たないんだウケる文ともしてないんだかわいそう！
と馬鹿にしたさやかは、あんまり可哀想だから写真は消してあげると言い、スマホを見せながら確認したら？と言う。
バックアップを取ってるんだろ？と疑いの目を向ける和真に疑うんなら私の部屋に来て家捜ししたら？
文に言えない秘密が増えるけどと挑発した後、EDだったわねごめんなさいと小馬鹿にした。
文どうしてるのかな？結婚記念日に旦那が朝帰り、きっとみじめで泣いてるよ可哀想だから早く帰ってあげたら？と笑う。
言われなくても帰るよと答える和真の前で気分良さそうにクスクスと笑っているさやか。
彼女の横顔を見ながらさやかはどうして文をここまで傷つけようとするんだ？と疑問を覚えていた。
さやか達は大切な友達で会っている時が一番楽しいと文が言っていたとさやかに話すと真顔になるさやか。
ふぅん、と興味なさそうな相槌を打つさやかに、もしかして文ちゃんと何かあったの？と訊ねる和真。
だったら話してほしい問題が解決すれば、と言う和真の言葉に被せるように解決なんかするわけないじゃない、と呟くさやか。
え？と驚く和真に文とは何もない、和真さんが好きなだけと言うさやか。
無言になる和真に、でももう諦めるわだって文は大切な友達だとの、と穏やかな笑みで言ったさやかにゾクッとする和真。
いなくなった文
電車を降りて改札口を出た和真は足早に家へと急ぐ。
途中通ったファミレスの窓際に文の姿があったが、和馬は気付かずに横を通り過ぎた。
暗い家の中に入り、文ちゃんは寝てるのかな？と思いながらバスルームに向かい、着ていた服を脱ぐとゴミ袋にしまう。
文に見つからないようにクリーニングに出さないとなと思いながらシャワーを浴びる和真。
お風呂からあがり、ダイニングに向かうとテーブルにはケーキと料理がラップをした状態で置かれていた。
それを見た和真は青い顔で頭を抱える。
寝室に向かって、静かに扉を開けた和真は中の様子を見てハッとなり、バンっと扉を開けた。
二人の寝室にはいると思っていた文の姿がなく、和真は文の名前を呼びながら他の部屋の扉も開けて探す。
まさか出て行った？と愕然とする和真。
見つからない文
焦る和真はスマホのパスコード入力をミスりながら、どうにかロックを解除すると、文に電話をかける。
呼び出し音が鳴り響くが、文が出る気配はなく、文ちゃん！と青ざめた和真。
お義母さんのところかも、と電話をしようとするがこんな早い時間に騒ぎ立てたら心配させちゃうな、と思い留まる。
室内と真っ青な顔でウロウロしていた和真は居てもたってもいられず、コートを羽織って外に捜しに行った。
しかし、文を見つけることはできず、街でなんか見つかるわけないよなと肩を落として家の中に入る。
シンと静まり返る部屋の中で何処を探せばいいんだと途方に暮れる和真は、もう一度文に電話をかけた。
呼び出し音が鳴るばかりで繋がらず、電話を切った和馬は文ちゃんも昨日こんな思いをしたんだろうな、と思う和真。
溝が生まれた二人
カチッと開く音にハッと顔をあげた和真はバタバタと玄関まで走り、扉をバンッと開けると驚いた文がいた。
ホッとした顔の和真が何処に行ってたの？と問うとちょっと、と目を逸らす文。
電話出ないから捜しに行ったんだよ？と言うと俯いた文がごめんと一言。
寒いから早く入りなよと言われた文が中に入ると、俯いていた和真が彼女を強く抱きしめた。
怒って出て行ったのかと思った、ご馳走作ってまっててくれたのに帰れなくてごめんと謝る和真。
文は和真の体を押して腕から逃れると、シャワー浴びてからちょっと寝ると言い、和真の横をすり抜けていく。
文ちゃん！と呼び止めると冷めた表情の文が振り返った。
怒ってる？と聞くと怒ってないよと冷静な答えが帰ってきて、そのまま扉を閉められた。
埋まらない距離
翌日、ディナーの帰り、タクシーに乗る文は窓の外を見つめ、そんな文を横目に見ている和真は文ちゃん怒ってるだろうな結婚記念日の翌日じゃディナーの意味ないもんなと思っていた。
このままずっとこんな感じが続くのかな？
クリスマスプレゼントを喜んでもらえたらよかったけど気に入らないみたいだったし、普通に笑って普通に話をすることがこんなに大切だったなんて、どうしたら元に戻れる？
と文の後ろ姿を見て思う和真。
家に着くとこれプレゼント、と文が真顔で和真に渡す。
ありがとう、と喜ぶ和真に背を向けて離れていく文を後ろから抱きしめてベッドに行こうか？と言った。
出来るかわからない、でも今はこれしか近づく方法が思いつかないと焦る和真に生理だからと文。
じゃあ一緒に寝るだけと食い下がると昼寝したから先に寝ててと冷たくあしらわれてしまう。
わかったよ、とため息をついた和真はおやすみと言って扉を閉めた。
その時から文との会話はほとんどなくなった。
